Friday after work I was surprised with a set of Tiger Myrtle from Tim of Australia Tone woods. I have been anticipating this set for a long time. I can say that in person it is 10 times more beautiful than in pictures. I wet it with some napatha and WOW did it come to life. I have been chatting with Hesh (as he has a set also) about how to best appoint this wood. We sort of both agreed that a nice Addy top would look and sound nice. The bindings are going to be a tuffy, I'm thinking Ebony since the wood is SO busy. We shale see. Anyway, Great wood, great guy to work with and it was packed like it could have came from the other side of the world! Wait --- IT DID! ![]() |

I have only built one of Tiger Myrtle and felt that I wanted a binding that would contrast (dark) but not compete or take attention from the Myrtle. I used BRW as it is dark enough and the color maked well. I think it was Steve at Colonial Hardwoods (a sponsor) who has BRW bindings... |

I've heard it's brittle, but I think wenge would make a good-looking binding for the tiger myrtle. The stuff I've seen (only in pictures, of course) is a beautiful, dark coffee brown, with black inclusions. |
